FIRE RESTRICTION ORDER

Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with the extremely dry conditions in northeastern Utah, the Kamas City Council has determined that measures must be taken to prevent the ignition of fires. Therefore, pursuant to Utah State Law, Section 15A-5-202.5, the following acts are prohibited in the areas described below until rescinded by the Kamas City Council:
1. Setting, building, maintaining, attending or using open fires of any kind, except within the facilities designated for them in improved campgrounds, picnic areas or home sites where running water is present.
2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, trailer or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area that is paved or free from dry vegetation.
3. Discharging or using any kind of fireworks, tracer ammunition or other pyrotechnic devices including exploding targets.
4. Cutting, welding or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation.
5. Operating a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or other small internal combustion engine without an approved and working spark arrestor.

Any of the above acts is a violation of state law and punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

The following persons are exempted from the above prohibitions:
1. Persons with a permit or waiver specifically authorizing a specified act at a specific location.
2. Any on-duty firefighter in the performance of an official duty.

NOTICE

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Kamas City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter, in the Council Chambers located at 170 North Main St., Kamas, Utah.
The purpose of the hearing is to accept public comment for the 2026-2027 fiscal year tentative budget. There will also be a public hearing to accept public comment for the 2025-2026 fiscal year amended budget.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)
SECOND PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Kamas City will hold a public hearing to discuss the project determined to be applied for in the CDBG Small Cities Program Year 2026. The application is being made to upgrade the Kamas City Sewer Treatment System build an irrigation system at the Kamas sewer ponds located at approximately 800 W Simpson Lane (40°39'22.93"N, 111°17'45.05"W). The irrigation system will include a 300 s.f. pump house that will include two vertical turbine pumps that will pump between 350 to 450 gpm, including all required electrical equipment, required piping and necessary appurtenances; a two wheeled center pivot irrigation system that can discharge between 350 to 450 gpm and 1,350 lineal feet of 6” pipe necessary to get the treated wastewater from the treatment plant to the pivot. Comments will be solicited on the project scope, implementation, and its effects on residents. The hearing will begin at 6:00 P.M. on May 12, 2026 and will be held at the at the Kamas City Hall, 170 North Main, Kamas, Utah. Notice is hereby given that the Kamas City Planning Commission will hold Public Hearings on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the hearings is to receive public comments regarding two preliminary site plan requests, first from Mirror Lake Properties, for an outdoor recreational miniature golf project located at 55 S Main, and second, from Chad Beus, Straightline Architecture, for a 20-suite industrial park located at 360 N. 100 W.

Code Amendment
Notice is hereby given that the Kamas City Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments regarding amending the Kamas Municipal Code to update the fencing requirements in commercial zones next to residential lots.

Zoning Map Amendment
Notice is hereby given that the Kamas City Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments regarding amending the Kamas Municipal Code to update the Zoning Map for Kamas City.

The meeting will be held at the Kamas City Hall, 170 N. Main, Kamas. Public comments are welcome and can be made in person or submitted via email to info@kamascityut.gov.
